Grade Rules
Our Fir and Cedar product are band sawn green, full dimension with in 1/8th of an inch unless otherwise listed.
#1 Grade Rule
Our #1 grade is used in applications where both strength and visual appearance are of primary concern.
Our in-house grade meets and, in most cases, exceeds NLGA standard lumber grades for #2 structural.
The follow defects are allowed on occasional pieces.
· Knots – Of a sound tight quality.
· Wane – Light for a short distance.
· Splits – Half the width of piece.
· Pin holes/Powder Worm – Occasional well scattered mainly on back face.
· Shake – Light on one face.
· Knot Holes – None.
· Unsound wood – None
Common uses:
- Deck’s.
- High end fences and gates.
- Pergola’s.
- Facia, Barge Board and Belly Bands.
- Siding.
- All other types of construction where a high-grade knotty appearance is required.
#2 Grade Rule
Our #2 Grade is used in applications where good structural value is required but visual appearance is not of primary concern.
Our in house #2 grade meets NLGA standard lumber grades for #2 structural.
The following defects are allowed.
· Knots – Sound and intact.
· Wane – Up to ¾ of the thickness for a short distance.
· Splits – The width of piece.
· Twist/Wrap – Light
· Pinholes/Powder Worm – Scattered on one or both sides but limited to no effect on structural integrity.
· Shake – Up to 2’ long if tight.
· Knot Holes – Not over 1 ½ “ in 6” and wider.
· Unsound Wood – Small pockets on reverse face.

- Fencing & Gates.
- Rustic decks.
- Agricultural buildings.
- Landscaping.
- Retaining Walls.
